494-bed student accommodation to complete this year on former garage site

Student accommodation provider, true student, is developing a 494-bed scheme on the site of a former BMW car garage in Broad Lane, Sheffield.
The building, called true Sheffield, will house students from both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University.
When finished it will feature shared ensuite apartment style bedrooms and studio rooms, as well as an amenities space which will include dedicated study zones, social areas and festival zones for events and socialising.
It will also have a gym and an outdoor sky lounge and terrace on the 26th floor.
The project has created 440 jobs through contractors and also employs 190 people daily.
Aztec, the main contractor has partnered with Sheffield College to offer a T-level industry placement.
Ben Morley, managing director of true student, said: “We see every new development as an opportunity to contribute positively to the local area.
“Not just by providing exceptional student accommodation, but by also creating jobs, supporting businesses and forging meaningful community connections.
“Sheffield has an incredible student culture, and we want to enhance that by offering a space where students feel supported, engaged and inspired.
“Whether it’s through the thoughtfully designed communal areas, the events we organise or the local partnerships we develop, our goal is to help students settle into their new city and thrive during their university experience.”
At 28 storeys high, true Sheffield will be one of the tallest buildings in the city, second only to St Paul’s Tower.
True student currently has seven schemes open across the UK, with its newest sites, Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield set to open later this year.
