Stairlift manufacturer steps up international ambitions with seven-figure backing

A Huddersfield-based manufacturer of custom stairlifts is accelerating its international expansion strategy, bringing its products to new markets, with the support of a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK.
Bespoke Stairlifts will use funding from HSBC UK, which includes working capital via invoice and trade finance, to increase its West Yorkshire manufacturing capabilities.
With investment in new machinery and technology, the company aims to increase production capacity and meet the rising demand for its products, which are currently exported to over 70 countries across North America, the French Caribbean, India and Europe.
As part of this HSBC UK supported growth strategy, Bespoke Stairlifts plans to expand its workforce by an additional 25 per cent over the next 12 months.
This expansion aligns with the company’s forecasted turnover increase of 30 per cent to £17m for 2025.
Joanne Kennedy, managing director at Bespoke Stairlifts, said: “The support from HSBC UK allows us to enhance our production capabilities and explore new markets, in which we can introduce our industry-leading stairlift solutions.
“We are excited about the opportunities this international growth will create for our company and our dedicated team.”
Andrew Bennett, area director at HSBC UK, added: “We are dedicated to helping businesses achieve their growth potential and strengthen local economies.
“Bespoke Stairlifts is a prime example of Yorkshire’s manufacturing expertise, and its global ambitions are a testament to the highly skilled and driven workforce behind the business.
“We are proud to support Bespoke Stairlifts on its journey, helping it seize new opportunities across the UK and worldwide.”
The deal was completed by Ash Khan, senior relationship manager and Simon Kitchingman, business development manager.
Bespoke Stairlifts operates from three locations across West Yorkshire and employs more than 130 people across the business.
The company’s full-scale manufacturing facility in Huddersfield, offering assembly and paint services, is supported by additional sites in Bradford and Bingley.
