Westfield signs up Arcadia for £340m centre

THE long-awaited £340m Westfield shopping centre in Bradford has been boosted with the news that six retailers that are part of Arcadia Group have signed up to take stores in the development.

Topshop and Topman, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, Wallis, and Miss Selfridge will all have stores within the planned 54,000 square metre centre which will have two levels of shops and more than 100 outlets including anchor tenants Debenhams and Marks & Spencer and 1,800 parking spaces.

As a result of the signings, Miss Selfridge and Wallis will be returning to Bradford and the move also enables Topshop and Topman, Evans, Dorothy

Perkins and Burtons to take larger stores within the city centre.

Neil Maclure, development executive at Westfield said: “We're delighted to have exchanged contracts with the Arcadia Group. This will help Arcadia enhance its range of fashion stores in Bradford, particularly by bringing two of its well-known brands back to Bradford city centre.

“This deal provides a significant boost to our development, which will include more than 100 retail units, a food court, residential apartments and office

accommodation. In addition, the Westfield development will bring around 3,000 permanent jobs to the city.”

Councillor Andrew Mallinson, Bradford Council's executive member for regeneration, said: “Having further quality retailers under the Arcadia group name signed up for the development is a huge boost for the city. We are now assured of a vibrant mix of good quality products for all ages.”

Australian group Westfield specialises in the management, leasing, and development of shopping centres and has £26bn of assets under management in a portfolio of 120 shopping centres across the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand with 22,000 retailers and approximately 10m sq m of retail space.

In the UK, Westfield has seven operating centres in Tunbridge Wells, Nottingham, Guildford, Belfast, Lisburn, Merry Hill and Westfield Derby, a £340m
