Sausage producer has appetite for investment as it extends facility
A Yorkshire firm of civil and structural engineers has won a contract to support the expansion plans of a North Yorkshire supplier of sausages.
Wakefield-based HJ Consulting (HJCE) will provide consultancy advice along with civil and structural engineering services to Heck Foods, which is investing further in its food production operations in Bedale.
This includes construction of a 17,500 sq ft multi-million pound extension to its existing facility to enable the business to move into frozen lines next year.
It already supplies millions of sausages, burgers, mince and meatballs every year to retailers and supermarkets across the North of England.
HJCE is involved from concept through to detailed design work, providing technical and consultancy support around the development of a purpose-built modern facility, which will be built using the latest low-carbon construction methods.

Andrew Fairburn
Andrew Fairburn, managing director, said he was looking forward to supporting Heck’s next phase of growth and success.
He added: “This is another great project for us, helping to deliver a new factory to support Heck’s plans to develop its manufacturing operations further.
“It showcases our engineering capabilities together with the skills and expertise available regionally to help bring forward ambitious commercial property investments and detailed design work.”
A spokesperson for Heck said: “Our commitment to investing in extending production capacity is a major part of our ambitious growth plans.
“Working alongside our in-house team and other partners, HJCE has been engaged to create a state-of-the-art production facility that will meet our long-term strategic needs.”
