Yorkshire Building Society announces new finance director

YORKSHIRE Building Society is promoting an internal candidate to the role of finance director following the retirement of Andrew Gosling.

Robin Churchouse, 44, will step up to the finance director role of the Bradford-based society in June from his current position as general manager risk & planning.

Mr Churchouse joined the Yorkshire in July 2004 as head of finance and was promoted to his current role in 2006 giving him responsibility for risk and capital management across the group and for the society’s strategic planning.

With a wide range of experience across a number of financial services organisations, before joining the Yorkshire, Mr Churchouse now steps into a role Mr Gosling held for nine years.

Commenting on the appointment Iain Cornish, chief executive of the Yorkshire said: “Robin has made a significant contribution to managing the risks and planning the society’s future strategy during a period of great change for the organisation. His knowledge of the society and experience in finance, risk management and strategic planning equip him to be an excellent finance director.

“Andrew has successfully managed the society’s finances during the worst economic recession on record. He has skilfully provided a balance between financial security and delivery of long-term value to our members. He leaves the Yorkshire extremely well placed to continue as a financially strong mutual organisation and we thank him for his contribution and wish him well in his retirement.”
