Dickinson Dees in Yorkshire

LAW firm Dickinson Dees is on the growth trail with a move to Leeds, which will see it grow its clients, following several successful years in York.

The firm opened its York office in 2007  following a deal with Philip Ashworth & Co.

It has grown annual turnover to £4.5m in York – quadrupling its operations in Yorkshire in the process – and believes the move to Leeds, which will take place in early 2012, will further accelerate this growth as well as confirming its commitment to the region.

Dickinson Dees employs more than 650 people across its five offices in the North East, Yorkshire and London.

In the last 12 months, Dickinson Dees acted on corporate deals valued at £2.4bn.

The firm has won a number of significant new clients such as the Department for Transport and one of the largest affordable housing and care providers in the country, The Guinness Partnership.

Dickinson Dees was also the firm at the centre of a landmark case to quash the Government’s decision to cancel Building Schools for the Future schemes and as a result of the firm’s work in the sector, its education practice has recently been shortlisted for the legal adviser of the year award at this year’s Education Investor awards in London.

The past year has also seen the firm enter the UK’s top 25 law firms for its private client work, making it not only one of the leading practices in the country, but a key performing practice for the firm itself.

In addition to the private client practice, Dickinson Dees has grown its property, disputes resolution, employment and environment practices, the latter posting a 40% increase in revenue in the last year.

Within weeks of the announcement of the move from York to Leeds, Dickinson Dees was appointed as a legal adviser to Leeds City College. The college joins a number of other high-profile Yorkshire clients, including the University of York, Croda International, the Evans Property Group, Sanderson Weatherall, Harrisons of York, Linden North, a subsidiary of Galliford Try, and Augean Waste.

The firm will be looking to expand and build on this strong portfolio.
