Sir David Frost keynote speaker at YIBC
BROADCASTING legend Sir David Frost will be delivering the keynote speech at this year’s Yorkshire International Business Convention.
Sir David is one of six inspirational speakers at the annual event, which will be held on June 11 at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate and The Spa at Bridlington.
The broadcaster has become one of the country’s most respected journalists as well as being a household name on both sides of the Atlantic.
He has also become one of the country’s most successful business entrepreneurs constantly challenging convention and is reputed to be worth around £200m.
During his career he has interviewed nearly every major political leader of recent times including the last seven British Prime Ministers and American Presidents as well as celebrities ranging from The Beatles and Tennessee Williams to Orson Welles.
A worldwide audience of 45 million watched the series of interviews he did with former US President Richard Nixon in which Nixon admitted his part in the Watergate scandal for the first time.
The story of that verbal battle became an Oscar-nominated film in 2008.
Sir David’s status is reflected in the awards he has received including a BAFTA Fellowship and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Emmys. He was knighted in 1993.
Convention chief executive Mike Firth said: “Sir David is a man who has interviewed some of the most influential and powerful people in the world and without exception he has managed to get beneath the public face of those people to find out what really makes them tick.
“The stories he has to tell are certainly going to be entertaining but I am confident they will also be equally inspirational for the delegates.”
Mr Firth added: “Quite apart from his television work throughout the world, he has also written 15 books and produced eight films. So anyway you look at it his is going to be a story worth hearing.”
Sir David joins a list of speakers, which includes actor and adventurer Brian Blessed, business woman Michelle Mone who set up one of the most successful lingerie brands in the world, and Rene Carayol who is the author of the best-selling business book ‘Corporate Voodoo’.
The other speakers are Brian Kalma, who is part of the team at the multi-award winning online retail business Zappos.com, and Peter Burkill, the former BA pilot who successfully brought down his Boeing 777 when both engines failed just two miles from Heathrow Airport.
