Barburrito cooks up Yorkshire expansion

MEXICAN fast food chain Barburrito is to expand for the first time outside its native North West with its first site in Yorkshire.
The Manchester company, which has three outlets at the moment, is opening a fourth in the city centre this month, ahead of its foray into Leeds in the summer.
Mentored by chairman Richard O’Sullivan, a serial entrepreneur who built the Millies Cookies chain and is now leading Boost Juice’s UK expansion, Barburrito expects turnover to hit £2.3m this year.
Founded in 2005 and led by Morgan Davies and Paul Kilpatrick, Barburrito aims to have seven outlets by the end of the year.
Privately-owned, Barburrito’s like-for-like sales are up 30% this year. Last autumn the-Haydock -based Rapid Realisations Fund paid more than £1m for a substantial stake in the business.
The latest opening in on Deansgate in Manchester. It will be Barburrito’s second city centre site. As well as the original store at Piccadilly Gardens, it has outlets at the Trafford Centre and the Liverpool One shopping centres.
Morgan Davies said: ““Barburrito was the UK’s first burrito bar to open back in 2005 and we base our success on how we operate each new restaurant and how we have consistently kept our customers happy and wanting to come back for more.
“We set out wanting to establish our own sophisticated and western adaptation of the classic Mexican dish and it has driven our business to where we are today. Our ultimate aim is simple, to be the coolest burrito brand on the planet.”
