Restaurant has recipe for success as fourth eatery opens

A POPULAR restaurant chain has opened its fourth eatery using a £130,000 loan from Lloyds TSB Commercial.

Headlingley-based Giorgio’s Ristorante Italiano has been opened by George and Vasoulla Psarias, who also run a Greek restaurant in Rodley, The Olive Tree which opened in 1986, and its sister restaurants in Chapel Allerton and Headingley.

The new restaurant employs 20 staff and can cater for up to 150 guests a night.

After waiting 17 years for the right property to become available, Mr Psarias approached his banking partner Lloyds TSB Commercial which provided a £130,000 loan to buy the premises, formerly Pietros Italian Restaurant.

The family is also planning to expand the restaurant by purchasing the first floor of Giorgio’s later this year.

Mr Psarias said: “Our passion for Mediterranean food has been the driving force behind all of our restaurants and we were delighted to find the perfect property from which to launch our latest Italian venture.

“Lloyds TSB Commercial has supported us for over 30 years, with its guidance and financial backing we have been able to continue to expand and achieve our ambitions.”

Matthew Canning, relationship manager for Lloyds TSB Commercial in Leeds, said: “We have built a strong relationship with George and recognise and understand his talent, drive and aspirations for the business.

“It’s fantastic to work with such an enthusiastic family that are so passionate about their restaurants and the quality of food they provide.”

He added: “We look forward to continuing to support George and Vasoulla and to helping them achieve their future plans.”
