NG Bailey appoints CEO

YORKSHIRE construction firm NG Bailey has appointed former Carillion executive director David Hurcomb as its new chief executive.
Mr Hurcomb, who is chief executive for Scotland-based printing group Havelock Europa, will join Ilkley-based NG Bailey in September.
Mr Hurcomb stepped down from the main board of Carillion late last year where he was responsible for the company’s UK building, private finance, property services and training services businesses.
He also held board responsibility for the company’s sustainability strategy, group-wide supply chain programme and was a director of its Middle East joint venture.
Mr Hurcomb’s career started with Carillion, following his appointment as managing director of the company’s facilities management division in 2005.
Prior to this he was a main board director for Mansell.
Nimble Thompson, NG Bailey’s chairman, said: “I am delighted to announce David’s appointment. It’s clear to see from his career to date that David’s industry expertise is second to none and I have every confidence that he will lead NG Bailey through the recession and into a new and exciting era.
“I look forward to welcoming David as chief executive and as a member of our main board. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Chris Newton for leading the company through the last seven months as acting chief executive and look forward to continuing to work with him in that role until David starts. Chris will then revert to his previous role of chief finance officer.”
