Major players in Saudi Arabian oil market on hunt for Yorkshire expertise

A DELEGATION of senior officials representing major players in the Saudi Arabian oil and gas industry is heading to Leeds next week to encourage regional manufacturers to benefit from a $200bn investment programme.

Technical and purchasing directors from Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest integrated oil company, will host a ‘meet the buyer’ event at Thorpe Park Hotel on June 16 for companies to showcase specialist products linked to the field.

The visiting team are keen to meet manufacturers of drilling products, specialist valves, wellhead manifolds, pumps, specialist metals and fittings, and pipeline maintenance products.

Mark Robson, of organisers UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), said: “Of particular interest to the visitors are companies willing to manufacture or invest in basic assembly operations in Saudi.

“They are exploring opportunities to partner or share a range of JV projects, including the manufacture of valves and operations to produce flanges and pipe fittings.”

Nine trading houses and conglomerates within Saudi Arabia will be represented as part of Saudi Aramco. They are forecasting $200bn worth of investment over the next four years.
