World Expo 2015 opportunities for region’s firms
THE HM Consul General for Trade and Investment Italy will be visiting the region next week to explore the business opportunities the World Expo 2015 in Milan could offer Yorkhire’s companies.
The Expo Milano is taking place between May and October 2015 and is expected to attract 29m visitors to around 7,000 events.
To deliver the infrastructure required for such a major event the expertise of overseas companies is required to work with their Italian counterparts.
This opens up opportunities for businesses and specialists in Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region.
Architects, caterers and hoteliers, companies in environment and energy efficiency, financial services companies, interior designers, manufacturers of consumer products and operators in the security sector could all benefit from the event.
UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and Marketing Leeds have organised the presentation event following the Leeds in Milan Festival of Commerce and Culture in October 2008.
Laurence Bristow-Smith, who will be in Leeds on June 24, said: “I am thrilled to be visiting Leeds again to discuss how the city’s business leaders can maximise on opportunities presented by the Expo Milano 2015. With the basis of a relationship with Leeds businesses following on from Leeds in Milan, this is an opportunity for our combined strengths to contribute to this exciting event.”

The Expo Milano 2015 session will take place on June 24 from 5.15pm at DLA Piper in Leeds.
