ACCOUNTANCY firm Brown Butler has promoted Matthew Jaques to tax partner.

Mr Jacques presently leads Leeds-based Brown Butler’s tax advisory service.

He has particular expertise in property taxation, including capital allowances and stamp duty land tax, and has experience in advising businesses and individuals on international matters.

Mr Jacques joined Brown Butler in December 2010 from accountants Baker Tilly.

ALEX Lambie has succeeded Norrie Stanley as chairman of North Yorkshire oil and gas exploration company Moorland Energy.

Mr Lambie, who joined the Moorland Energy board in March 2011 as a non-executive director, is also chairman of Welsh Power Group and has more than 25 years experience in the commercial arena of energy.  

Mr Stanley will remain on the board as non-executive director.

Mr Lambie added: “Moorland is at a very interesting stage of its development and I am very much looking forward to helping it to develop successfully its North Yorkshire gas reserves.”

SHEPHERD Construction has appointed a new managing director of its south division.

Mark Tant joins York-based Shepherd from Willmott Dixon where he spent 29 years including the last eight as managing director for South London and the Southern Home Counties.

He said: “I am delighted to join Shepherd Construction at an exciting time for the company which is increasingly being regarded as a national player in the market and is forging ahead with expansion across London and the South East.”

Shepherd Construction opened its London office at the start of last year with current projects including the £27m luxury apartment scheme The Atrium.

JANE Spinks has been appointed by P&A Receivables Services to manage and grow its industry credit forums.

Ms Spinks has joined the Sheffield-based firm as forums’ manager from Adecco Group where she managed its global telecom and engineering brands, Glotel and Roevin respectively.

Laurie Beagle, divisional director of P&A Receivables Services, said: “Jane brings considerable credit management experience, strong people skills and particular expertise in project management and in using new technologies to develop networks across the world.”

IRWIN Mitchell has made three appointments to its Leeds-based employment team.

Andrew Parascandolo, a specialist in redundancy and disability discrimination, joins as an associate from Squire Sanders.

He is joined by solicitor Ruth Butt who has moved from Raworths where she represented clients including subsidiaries of multinational and UK private firms as well as charities and high net worth individuals.

The Leeds team is also welcoming associate Ami Naru who is moving to Leeds from the firm’s Birmingham office. She specialises in advising corporate clients in areas such as board level appointments, disciplinary matters and reorganisations.
