In Brief: Dickinson Dees handles deal; Peacocks to open at Morrisons; Cattles AGM

A TEAM led by York corporate lawyer Alistair Scott-Somers has played a pivotal role in the sale of the plastics division of the Teesside-based electronics company Stadium Group for £2.5m.

Alistair Scott-Somers, an associate with national law firm Dickinson Dees based in York, provided the legal advice for the deal, which will now allow the Stadium Group to expand across the globe.

Nigel Rogers, the chief executive of the Stadium Group, commented: “The whole team at Dickinson Dees was committed to providing high quality legal advice whilst retaining a pragmatic and commercial approach.”

Expertise was drawn from across the firm’s departments with other members of the Dickinson Dees team including Kate Buckham (pensions), Robert Twohy (property), Laura Daniels (Employment) and Sue Streatfield (Intellectual Property).

The buyer was Flambeau EuroPlast Ltd, part of the Nordic Group of Companies, which is a US business from Wisconsin.

PEACOCKS is to open one of its budget retail outlets at a Morrisons supermarket this week.

The concession, at Morrisons’ Idle store in Bradford, is being billed by the Bradford-based supermarket chain as a one-off, but it is understood the concept could be rolled out across the country if it proves successful.

The move by Peacocks, which has been made possible by the refurbishment of the Idle store, will create 45 jobs.

KEY directors at sub-prime lender Cattles will be asked to resign by investors at the company’s annual general meeting tomorrow.

Following accounting problems which hit the company’s share price investors are calling for heads to roll.

There is also anger about a new proposal which would give shareholders no more than 1p for each share.

The AGM is taking place at the Queens Hotel in Leeds at 11am.
