In Brief: Brewin Dolphin disposal completes, Law firm opens office, and more

N+1 Brewin began trading yesterday following completion of the acquisition of the stockbroking arm by N+1 and its management team from Brewin Dolphin Holdings.

Brewin Dolphin, which has operations in Yorkshire, announced the disposal of the division to N+1 Brewin, majority owned by Spanish private equity group N+1, last May. The deal has now received regulatory authorisation.

N+1 will operate from five offices, including one in Leeds boasting eight staff. The Leeds office will be led by Richard Lindley, who has joined from Rothschild. He is joined by associate director Luke Boyce, associate director James  White, and analysts Joe Stroud, Will Goode and Laura White.

The core activities of N+1 Brewin will be corporate advisory and stockbroking, equity research and sales and trading services as well as investment banking and capital markets services.

N+1 is a partnership dedicated to investment banking, specialised asset management and private banking and is one of the leading M&A financial advisors in the mid market segment.

Brewin Dolphin sold the division for £5m but has retained a 14% stake.

LEEDS charity St George’s Crypt is to open a second shop in the city after receiving funding from HSBC.

The charity, which supports homeless and vulnerable people, will be one of the first in the region to receive a business mortgage.

St George’s Crypt chief executive Chris Fields said: “The new premises will offer much more than the traditional charity shop and we hope it will become a hub for the local community with facilities such as a café as well as the retail space.

“We have lots of exciting plans for the Armley shop in the future, including looking to offer a used wedding dress sales service, where the proceeds of the sale will be split between the charity and the individual selling the dress.”

Jason Trigg, area commercial director for HSBC in Leeds, said: “St George’s Crypt is a longstanding customer, having banked with us from its early days more than 70 years ago.

“We are delighted to offer our support to this worthy cause as it enters its next phase, expanding to increase the service it is able to offer to the vulnerable within the community.”
