New president for society

THE York Society of Chartered Accountants has appointed a new president.

John Butler, a manager specialising in personal and corporate recovery and insolvency work at Tenon Group, takes over the role from Peter Atkinson .

Mr Butler is also a partner in his family farming business and is a keen rugby and cricket player for local club sides.

He was educated at Hymers College in Hull before attending Nottingham University from where he graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Economics.

Mr Butler said he was looking forward to his new role.

Peter Atkinson said that he had found his year of office extremely enjoyable and was particularly pleased that the Society had raised a considerable amount for the NSPCC and also increased its membership

The society organises regular luncheons and briefing meetings for members on technical and topical issues.

The organisation is keen to welcome chartered accountants from every sector who either live or work in the York area into the society.
