Brewery has taste for growth

ABBEYDALE Brewery is set to more than double production after securing new investment.

The firm has bought an industrial unit next to its existing premises and employed a new member of staff.

Founded as a microbrewery in 1996, the new additions will see Abbeydale grow its output to 250 barrels per weeek.

Susan Morton, director of Abbeydale Brewery, said: “The extra space and new equipment will allow us to increase our capacity and make us more efficient and as a direct result of the investment we have been able to take on a new employee.

“We now have 13 members of staff and we are pleased to bring job opportunities to the community.”

The expansions plans have been supported via a mortgage from Natwest and £100,000 from Finance Yorkshire.

David Ward, from Finance Yorkshire, said: “It is fantastic to see a small business grow and become a valuable provider of jobs in the community.

“We were delighted to be able to invest in Abbeydale Brewery to assist its expansion and we hope Patrick, Susan and the team continue to experience success.”
