LCF signs former England striker Deane

YORKSHIRE law firm Last Cawthra Feather has strengthened its sports law team, LCF Sports Law, with the appointment of Brian Deane as a sports consultant.
The former England, Sheffield United, Leeds and Middlesbrough player will work alongside ex-Scotland international professional footballers John Hendrie and Jim Pearson and head of LCF Sports Law, Stephen Lownsbrough, advising clients on professional legal matters such as player and manager contracts, sponsorship agreements, business dealings and disputes along with their personal affairs.
Mr Deane, who was born and raised in Yorkshire, has amassed a wealth of industry knowledge from more than 20 years in the game.
Stephen Lownsbrough, head of LCF Sports Law, said: “Brian’s sporting history is in itself impressive, and his experience and industry knowledge will be of great benefit to our existing clients and also the development of LCF Sports Law marketing initiatives and new client development. We are looking forward to expanding our client base and Brian will be an integral part of that.”
Mr Deane added: “My sporting career was very long for a footballer and it enabled me to also grasp a firm understanding of the professional side of the sports industry, which I will be able to pass on and help clients of LCF Sports Law. I’m really looking forward to working with the team and building upon the growth that it has already experienced.”
He played professional football until the 2006/7 season for clubs such as Sheffield United, Leeds United, Benfica and Middlesbrough, in addition to collecting three full England caps and three England B caps.
He scored the first goal in the English Premier League for Sheffield United against Manchester United after 5 minutes on August 15, 1992 going on to score a second with Sheffield United winning 2-1.
