LAW firm Gateley has made its first key hire since launching into the Yorkshire market with the appointment of commercial litigation partner Gerard Khoshnaw.
Mr Khoshnaw has joined the Leeds office of Gateley from the Sheffield office of Nabarro, where he was a partner and head of commercial dispute resolution.
Partner William Ballmann, who heads up the Leeds operation at Gateley, said: “Despite the on-going challenges of a difficult business environment, we have had an extremely positive start since launching into the Yorkshire market in January.

WILMA Teviotdale, head of the Department of Accountancy at the University of Huddersfield, is the new president of the West Yorkshire Society of Chartered Accountants.
Ms Teviotdale is joined for her year in office by Charles Hartwell, finance director at Yorkshire County Cricket Club as deputy president, and Matt Stroh, associate director at Grant Thornton, as vice president.
Ms Teviotdale said: “These are difficult economic times for businesses and graduates and continuing to forge links is seen as very relevant to the local economy in the light of government reports, CBI reports and ICAEW support for business through its BAS scheme (Business Advice Service).”

LAW firm Watson Burton has strengthened its Yorkshire construction practice with the appointment of associate Andrew Poyner.
Mr Poyner, a dual qualified civil engineering quantity surveyor and construction lawyer, has first hand experience of the construction and engineering sector in Yorkshire.
In his previous role as a quantity surveyor, he formed part of a national main contractor’s project team responsible for delivering major infrastructure schemes in the region.
He now practises as a specialist lawyer advising businesses on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters, acting on behalf of developers, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, local authorities, funders and housing associations.
Mr Poyner has joined Watson Burton from Midlands-based law firm Geldards.

ACCOUNTANCY firm PwC has grown its forensic services practice in Leeds with the appointment of Ian Clemmence as senior manager.
Prior to joining PwC, Mr Clemmence was based in London for 11 years, working for Deloitte, LECG Consulting and FTI Consulting.
A native of Leeds, he has specialised in the provision of dispute, fraud and expert witness services for clients for the last six years.
