Southby joins as EMIS grows

PHARMACY and GP surgery software supplier EMIS has seen trading ahead of expectations, the company revealed today as it announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer.
The company said it accelerated the roll-out of its EMIS Web product with more than 700 GP practices now using the system and 1,385 unfulfilled orders.
Current CFO Phillip Woodrow is to retire and EMIS has recruited Peter Southby to take over the role.
Mr Southby is currently group finance director at Salford-based clean energy firm ENER-G and was previously CFO at Augean, the Wetherby-based waste management company.
EMIS chief executive Sean Riddell said: “Our objective is to continue to deliver long-term growth to shareholders and Peter’s appointment as CFO will maintain financial discipline throughout the group.
“In joining our executive team, Peter will bring valuable experience to support us in our strategy to join up healthcare and grow our market share.”
EMIS said it was putting in place the people and processes it needed to roll-out EMIS Web to up to 200 GP practices per month.
At the end of June, the company was holding £17.7m in cash, up from £12.8m the previous year.
