Broad Street Plaza completed

CONSTRUCTION work has been completed on the £40m Broad Street Plaza retail and leisure scheme.
Fitting out is now underway with earlier occupiers including Vue Cinema, Pure Gym and Pizza Express.
The development in Halifax town centre is expected to open to the public at the end of the summer.
David Brimblecombe, managing director at Gregory Projects, said: “We are thrilled to reach practical completion for Broad Street Plaza. The support from our financial backers and key stakeholders in the Calderdale region has been tremendous and instrumental in helping us to get the £40m scheme off the ground. Equally the commitment we have in place by some of the UK’s most prominent leisure operators is testament to great confidence in the local market.”
“We set out to bring a ‘destination’ leisure attraction for Halifax with the town’s first large scale multiplex cinema and a number of good branded restaurants with an attractive outdoor seating area. We have achieved this with an incredible tenant profile, even in hard times.”
The scheme, which is already 95% let, was built by Marshall Construction.
David Marsh, construction director at Marshall, “Broad Street Plaza was a significant project for us and we have taken great pride in the workmanship to deliver a destination that we can all be proud of, especially in our home town.
“We are delighted to have completed the works within the projected two year timeframe despite the various challenges that the location has presented.”
Broad Street Plaza was designed by The Harris Partnership and JPG Leeds. Colliers International advised on the planning and Jones Lang LaSalle and BNP Paribas Real Estate are the letting agents.
