New company launched to help firms manage noise pollution

BUSINESSES will now be able to better manage and reduce any noise pollution thanks to the latest acoustic measurement equipment.
The new technology is the creation of Bridlington-based firm Cirrus Research, which has launched a sister company – Cirrus Environmental – to roll out the service.
The new company will be able to provide customers with tailor made environmental noise measurement systems for a wide range of applications including transport, mining, construction, power generation, manufacturing and entertainment.
Other noise measurement technologies designed by Cirrus Research will also be used to help companies manage their noise impact.
Richard Wright, Cirrus Environmental’s managing director, said that environmental noise pollution was an extremely serious issue.
“Noise can have a negative impact on people’s quality of life, causing effects ranging from mild annoyance to serious health effects such as stress, sleepless nights and heart disease,” he said.
“High levels of environmental noise have even been linked to reduced educational achievement in children. Research shows that although most organisations take their responsibilities with regard to noise seriously, they worry about how they may tackle the problem or don’t know where to start.”
He said that while other providers simply sold measurement equipment, Cirrus Environmental aimed to work with clients to offer advice and support such as remote data acquisition and reporting.
“This leaves our customers free to concentrate on running their organisations,” added Mr Wright.
