Latest Appointments: Mazars, Eversheds moves for Cobbetts team, and more

ACCOUNTANCY firm Mazars has appointed two new partners at its Leeds office.

Carl Ward heads the financial planning team in the North while Tony Maleham steps up from tax director.

Ian Wrightson, Mazar’s Leeds managing partner, said: “These are two major promotions which send out a confident message to the marketplace.

“We have put in significant investment in terms of staff development and it is paying off as we win growing numbers of new clients, in particular among owner managed businesses.”

EVERSHEDS has moved for four pensions specialists from rival Cobbetts.

The new hires will join the firm’s pension team in Leeds, which is headed by partner Terry Saeedi.

The Cobbetts team moving to Eversheds is headed by partner Richard Shelton.

Mr Shelton is joined from Cobbetts by principal associate Simon Evans, senior associate Patricia Critchley and associate Cat Ellis.

Mrs Saeedi said: “We are always looking at talented individuals to help us boost our existing capabilities even further and these new additions to the team will help us do just that. We look forward to welcoming the new hires to the firm over the coming months.”

BUSINESS Growth Fund (BGF), the investment vehicle established to help Britain’s fast growing smaller and medium sized businesses, has appointed Richard Taylor to its investment team in the North of England.

Mr Taylor will specifically target investment opportunities in the Yorkshire region and lives in Leeds.
 
The appointment follows a hat trick of investments for BGF in the North of England over the last two months, including £4.4m in Springfield Healthcare Group, £3.25m in Leeds and Manchester-based Mexican food chain Barburrito and £8m in pub chain Wear Inns.

Mr Taylor was formerly an investment director at Sovereign Capital with responsibility for the northern market.

Andy Gregory, BGF regional director for the North of England and Northern Ireland, said: “We are pleased to welcome Richard to the team enabling us to strengthen our presence in the North and providing us with a dedicated investment professional in Yorkshire.

FINANCIAL outsourcer HML has appointed Bob Andrews as its chief operating officer.

Mr Andrews joins HML after 10 years with RBS in its insurance division where he held a number of senior operations roles with Direct Line Group, and in credit cards and lending with RBS European Consumer Finance.

His 25 year financial services career has also seen him work for Natwest, Capital One and Lombard North Central.

He said: “HML is a business with excellent operational capability and a well-established change management function.”

360 Chartered Accountants360 Chartered Accountants has appointed three new members of staff.

Jayne Hussey joins the East Yorkshire-based firm as head of its tax department. 

The firm has also seen Andrew Jordan joining them as a new accountant and Emma Bird as a trainee.
