Conference organised for Leeds Digital Festival

SOME of the biggest names in the region’s digital sector are set to take part in a conference being held as part of Leeds Digital Festival.
The conference, which will take place at Leeds City Museum on October 12, will be headlined by a number of keynote speakers from organisations including IBM, Sky Sports, Asda, DCMS and Londata.
The one-day digital conference will feature a mixture of seminars from Leeds-based agencies, including Made by Pi, Numiko and Twentysix, independent digital professionals and national brands.
Topics of debate at the digital conference will range from data and analytics, design, development, search, social and ecommerce to mobile and futurology.
Si Wilson, creative services director at Bloom, and one of the organisers of the festival, said: “Leeds Digital Festival is a truly collaborative event, with everyone volunteering their time and company resources for free. We hope that the Digital Conference will be a fitting end to the festival; a celebration of the depth and breadth of the city’s digital sector.”
“Leeds has a hot bed of talented retail specialists who place digital at the heart of their clients’ marketing strategies. The conference will place this talent pool in to the spotlight and will give anyone who is interested in digital an opportunity to hear from some big brands who embrace digital too.”
Leeds Digital Conference is the last event of Leeds Digital Festival 2012, which runs from today.
In its fourth year, the festival celebrates and showcases digital talent in Leeds.
Meanwhile, Sky is hosting an event as part of the 2012 Leeds Digital Festival at its offices in the city on Tuesday.
The event will give attendees the unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at how Sky brings a football match to life on multiple digital platforms.
Sky Betting and Gaming and Sky Sports Digital Media, together with performance analysis company Prozone and sports data business Opta, will be inviting guests to come along and watch the Champions League clash between FC Nordsjaelland and Chelsea.
The ‘Digital Life of a Football Match’ event will allow technology fans, digital professionals and students to discover more about what happens behind the scenes digitally before, during and after a football match – from producing a live match commentary and feeding social content to creating data visualisation and updating the odds of a game.
