Humberside Airport unveils new destinations

HUMBERSIDE Airport is adding a range of new leisure destinations following its takeover by Eastern Group.

Thomas Cook will offer flights to Dalaman, in Turkey and Palma, in Majorca, which will also be served by Low Cost Holidays.

Earlier this year Manchester Airports Group sold its 82.7% share in the airport to Eastern Group which operates Eastern Airways.

Paul Litten, the airport’s commercial director, said: “We’ve made a commitment to grow the markets and improve the choice of services offered from Humberside Airport.

“These flights are in addition to the Jersey, Bulgaria and various Italian Riviera destinations that have already gone on sale for next summer, as well as Mediterranean cruise flights from Humberside Airport.

“This announcement, which comes after two months of hard work, is only the precursor to further growth in the coming months. This airport is a fantastic asset to the region which has been underused.”

The airport will see the return of flights to Alicante, in Spain, next year for the first time in two years alongside services to Madeira.

North Lincolnshire Council is a shareholder in Humberside Airport. Leader coun Liz Redfern, said: “As a shareholder in Humberside Airport, the council is delighted that after only two months in operation Eastern Airways is forging ahead.

“This is a real example of how partnerships can bring success.  Both new and re-secured routes are a major step forward and will be the catalyst to more forward investment, which will deliver more jobs in North Lincolnshire.”
