A CENTRE offering people advice on jobs and access to learning and skills training has been launched at the White Rose Shopping Centre.

The Point, run in partnership between Leeds City Council, Leeds City College, Land Securities, Job Centre Plus and the National Careers Service, was opened by Councillor Adam Ogilvie, Leeds City Council executive board member with responsibility for leisure and skills.

Coun Ogilvie said: “This is an excellent new resource which will provide communities across the city access to intelligence on the increasing retail opportunities which have been generated as a result of the significant investment in the city.”

The Point will offer a wide range of learning and skills opportunities including those in retail, hospitality, customer service and security.

DONCASTER Racecourse is to host business show 4 Business Expo on October 18.

Businesses will also be able to attend the 4Business Expo Networking event hosted by 4Networking, which runs from 8am to 10am on the day.

The 4Business Expo event starting at 10am which, as well as hosting three expos in one and a business seminar by Brad Burton, MD of 4 Networking, also features a networking bar.

Advice will be given on making the most of public relations opportunities. 4Networking has more than 300 networking groups in the UK.

ROSTEK-UK has been awarded a £200,000 contract to work on Glasgow South Hospital.

Sheffield-based Rostek-UK specialises in systems that allow workmen to gain access to the outsides of buildings.

Queens AwardTHE Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, David Moody, has presented Sheffield-based construction component company Ancon Building Products with its Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

Ancon Building Products, a designer and manufacturer of high integrity steel products for the construction industry, is one of the longest established steel fabrication companies in Sheffield.

Ancon won a Queen’s Award for its ‘Lockable Dowel’, a component that is used to accommodate shrinkage and transfer load at joints in long-span concrete floors.
