Firth Rixson agrees expansion with letting

ENGINEERING giant Firth Rixson has expanded its machine shop facility in Sheffield after agreeing to take more space.

Property consultancy Knight Frank has brokered a deal on behalf of the Mountcity Group to bring Firth Rixson into a 78,000 sq ft unit at Sheffield’s Provincial Park.

The letting at the 270,000 sq ft estate will allow the forgings specialist to run the facility close to its existing Meadowhall Road and Ecclesfield Road sites.

Provincial Park was used for many years by clothing and home goods group, Next, as its South Yorkshire storage and distribution facility following which, the main accommodation was divided into units, with Braiform which specialises in recycling coat hangers, taking 148,000 sq ft.

Other tenants at the estate include removal and storage giant, Pickfords, and Linbrook Services, a network services provider.

Rebecca Schofield, partner at the Sheffield Office of Knight Frank, said: “This is a strategic move on behalf of Firth Rixson as the company required a facility that could accommodate heavy workshop facilities without creating logistical disruption.

“As such, Provincial Park is an ideal solution because it was formerly a manufacturing facility, is strategically located and benefits from an adequate and upgraded power supply and pre-fitted crane rails, which removes much of the cost associated with fully retro-fitting lifting gear.

Knight Frank is appointed with DTZ as joint agents on the Provincial Park project.
