Building Briefs: Verity House; Industrial take-up; Guildhall competition

SPACE at the canalside Verity House in Leeds has hit the market.

CBRE is marketing 12,069 sq ft at the building on Canal Wharf on behalf of The Pensions Trust.

Alex Hailey, senior surveyor at CBRE Leeds, said: “Verity House is an extremely attractive offering to anyone in the market for high quality office accommodation in the city centre with associated car parking.

“Verity House also benefits from being close to the amenities of Granary Wharf, Bridgewater Place and the Round Foundry making it a fantastic opportunity for a wide range of tenants.”

THE industrial and distribution market in South Yorkshire has performed better in the last three months than the previous two years, according to new figures from Knight Frank.

Major lettings include The Range taking 750,431 sq ft at Nimbus Park while Aldi is developing an 856,000 sq ft site in the Dearne Valley.

Rebecca Schofield, partner at the Sheffield office of Knight Frank, said: “The wider Yorkshire and Humber area still has the largest amount of new build product available, with 33% of the UK’s stock levels, compared with other regional offices.

“Over recent years, and particularly following the economic downturn, we have saw a flight to prime which resulted in take-up in traditional logistic locations around the golden triangle and M62.

“Rents in South Yorkshire are more competitive than other locations and the region also boasts strong transport links and good labour, so we are hopeful tenants are taking note – and beginning to take advantage of these benefits.”
