Business backs E3 scheme

A SCHEME to introduce enterprise into the curriculum of every school in Bradford has attracted the support of 100 businesses.

The E3 programme is a partnership between Bradford Council and the Chamber of Commerce to help raise skills levels among young people making them ready for work.

Chairman Paul Mackie said: “If we, the business people in Bradford, can help engage and influence our young people, then in the future that will have a significant economic impact on the districts’ future and everybody has a role to play.

“What is really important is that this is business-driven, enterprise-driven and skills-driven. That is really challenging. The first criterion is to try to develop a vocational and enterprise curriculum.

“Developing that demand-led, business-driven enterprise curriculum is absolutely critical so that schools have this embedded curriculum in their normal day.”

Mr Mackie was speaking at an event at Forster’s Bistro and Deli bringing education providers and employers together.
