Business community urged to show support for Run for All events

ENGLAND Rugby head coach Stuart Lancaster is throwing his support behind this year’s Jane Tomlinson’s Leeds Half Marathon – after going the extra mile in last year’s Corporate Relay Challenge.

The national boss took part in last year’s Corporate Relay challenge – but enjoyed his leg so much he went on to run the rest of the race.

Last year’s event – the first to be staged by Jane Tomlinson’s Run for All – was a complete sell-out, with 6,000 runners snapping up places.

It was the biggest run in the half marathon’s near-three decades of history and athletes are urged to secure their place now for May 12 – or risking losing out.

Mr Lancaster, head coach of England Rugby Football Union, said: “I ran the 2012 Leeds Half Marathon as part of the Corporate Team Relay. When I’d finished my leg I wanted to keep on going so I decided to run the whole course.

“It’s a definitely a challenging route but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would certainly encourage people to get involved and feel that great sense of achievement when you cross that finish line.”

This year’s charity partners are St Gemma’s and Sue Ryder Wheatfields in Leeds; Martin House Children’s Hospice in Boston Spa; St Michaels in Harrogate; Sue Ryder Manorlands in Oxenhope; St Leonards in York; Overgate Hospice in Elland; Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield; Marie Curie in Bradford; and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

Meanwhile, the popular Jane Tomlinson Run For All Leeds 10K event has launched and will be held on July 14.

The Asda Foundation Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All Hull 10K will be on May 19.
