Deal secures future for electrical services firm

A YORKSHRE electrical services firm has been saved after being acquired by a Durham-based business, safeguarding eight jobs.
Castleford-based building services maintenance engineers R Levitt has been bought by John Cullerton & Sons.
Following the loss of contracts resulting in reduced turnover and cash flow difficulties, Levitts was placed in the hands of joint administrators David Wilson and Julian Pitts of Begbies Traynor in Leeds in January.
A deal was negotiated for the business and certain assets of Levitts were acquired by former customer John Cullerton & Sons.
The business continues to trade from its Castleford premises.
“We are extremely pleased to have secured a future for this Yorkshire business which has been trading for 57 years, but became yet another victim of the downturn,” said Mr Wilson. “By joining forces with John Cullerton & Sons, we are confident that it has a bright future.”
Established in 1956, Levitts offers a ‘one-stop shop’ facility for all trades within the building services environment.
As well as providing electrical contractors and maintenance engineers, the company also offers heating, plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, gas installation and maintenance services.
The company has worked with the Royal Armouries, North Yorkshire County Council and Carillion.
