Yorkshire Business Masters have global reach

MANUFACTURER Fibrelite saw a pick-up in enquiries from overseas after the company was named exporter of the year at TheBusinessDesk.com’s Yorkshire Business Masters, its managing director has said.

The Skipton-based business, best known for supplying composite manhole covers, is celebrating after seeing a 20% increase in sales year on year.

Managing director Ian Thompson said: “As over 80% of our revenue comes from export markets it was a tremendous accolade to have this achievement recognised by the Yorkshire Business Masters awards last year and the online media coverage of the awards helped to raise our profile both locally and internationally.

“We receive significant international enquiries through our website and TheBusinessDesk.com’s articles and videos help to drive new enquiries and potential customers to our website from all over the world.

“We were very proud to win the award, the ceremony and lunch was hugely enjoyable and I would recommend any business to enter the awards and fly the flag for Yorkshire.”

Fibrelite is enjoying success as companies look to alternatives to metal manhole covers, which are a target for thieves and have stringent health and safety guidelines. New enquiries are picking up in the utilities, public and general industrial sectors, Mr Thompson said.

Mr Thompson said a direct result of winning the exporter of the year category was an invite to attend a private dinner in London
to discuss ways in which the UK can achieve an export-led recovery and what the Government and private sector can do to promote international trade.

The Masters awards will recognise success in innovation, international trade, grit, social responsibility and leadership, while new business success will also be celebrated in the Yorkshire Newcomer award.

With just six awards, the focus is on quality, not quantity and all shortlisted companies and individuals are interviewed at the event making the businesses the stars of the show.
