A HULL data cabling company has beaten off national competition and been
awarded a £200,000 contract to create a 21st Century learning environment at
one of the city’s most prestigious schools.

Paragon Data Services (PDS) will install the comprehensive data network across
the new eight-storey home of Hull Trinity House Academy.

The contract comes as part of a £10m redevelopment of the school under the
city’s flagship Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

Iain Bland, PDS’s managing director, said: “This is a total network solution for the academy which means everything will be managed under one system, from email through to internet access in classrooms though to the safe and secure administration of dinner money and all other matters within the school – it will be entirely fit for 21st Century teaching and learning.”


CONSULTANCY firm, Beta Technology, has launched a joint venture with Australian partner, AMPLIFi Governance UK.

The Doncaster-based business, which provides innovation and business growth strategies to the public and private sectors, aims to  source and provide non-executive directors to family and private businesses to improve performance, accountability, sustainability and innovation.  This latest development builds on Beta’s work in Australia.

Beta employs 22 staff at its head office in Doncaster and has a turnover of around £2m.

Director Antony Davies said; “We have also seen a significant increase in demand internationally which now accounts for around 20% of our work.”

The firm has worked with Grant Thornton as auditors and advisers.

MORE than 50 financial advisers from the South Yorkshire and Midlands region were given an in-depth insight into the markets at the annual IFA Investment Conference.

The event, hosted by Investec Wealth & Investment at the Mercure St Paul’s Hotel in Sheffield, included keynote speakers Investec’s chief economist Philip Shaw and Director of European equities at Henderson Global investors, John Bennett.

Investment director at Investec Owen Wright said: “This was a very well attended event and is part of further developing our relationships with financial advisers in this area.  As our fifth annual conference, it is becoming known in the calendar for being both informative and enlightening and we had a great response from delegates.”

YORKSHIRE textile mill Hainsworth provided the iconic cloth for the military to wear at The Queen’s Coronation 60 years ago and in July, the company has been invited to attend the Coronation Festival to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Queen’s Coronation.

Hainsworth will join more than 200 Royal Warrant appointed exhibitors for four days in July to demonstrate its excellence in product displays in the Gardens of Buckingham Palace.

The Coronation Festival will celebrate innovation, excellence and industry showcasing the broad range of fine brands which have earned the recognition of a Royal Warrant over the years.
