In Brief: Surgical Innovations; Humber Business Week; Employment Conference

SURGICAL Innovations Group today announced the appointment of a US distributor, just days after the arrival of its new head of American sales and operations.

The move by the Leeds keyhole surgery device maker will see its Logi Range and YelloPort+plus products promoted to more than 430 hospitals by the Indianapolis-based distributor across Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio under the terms of a three year distribution agreement.

Graham Bowland, chief executive of Surgical Innovations, said: “This contract is evidence of SI’s strategy to penetrate the US market and optimise the opportunity located there. Rick Barnett was appointed at the beginning of the month and in this short period of time has already secured this new distributor, which will help develop SI’s presence in the US. Other US dealer agreements are in the pipeline and the market will be updated accordingly.”

New Vision and NHSLOCAL area pictures and iconic images from the past are being used to brighten wards and inspire memories in older people at hospitals, thanks to Yorkshire-based New Vision Signs and Graphics.

The project is an innovative collaboration between the Bradford company and Rotherham, Doncaster, South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

The images prompt older people with dementia to remember things from their past and create talking points for them and their families.

The aim is to improve the care and environments in older people’s mental health inpatient services at Windermere Lodge, St Catherine’s, Doncaster, The Woodlands in Rotherham and Laurel Ward in Scunthorpe.

New Vision has previously worked on a project at Bradford Royal Infirmary, providing systems for wall mounting and displaying images, and used similar techniques in Doncaster.
