Safety products manufacturer Sprue Aegis has successfully tendered with The Consortium and the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation for the supply of home safety products to the UK Fire & Rescue Services.

No monetary value has been put on the contracts.

These framework agreements replace the Firebuy agreement with the UK F&RS which lapsed in the second half of last year.

The YPO framework comprises five separate product categories and commenced on April 3 for a term of four years. Sprue, which is based in Coventry, is listed in all five categories.

BUSINESSES in South Yorkshire are backing plans to install multi-million pound flood defences in the area.

The plans in the Lower Don Valley involve the construction of new flood walls, installation of flood gates and clearing and maintaining the River Don across an 8km stretch from the city centre to Blackburn Brook.

Work will ensure an adequate standard of protection to businesses in the area against a minimum of a 1 in 100 year event.

Sheffield Chamber is working to raise awareness of the plans, which require financial support from businesses within the designated at risk area around the River Don.

It is working in partnership with Sheffield City Council which is leading on the technical feasibility, public funding applications and project management.
The majority of the £7.2m funding is being sought from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), with £1.4m required from local businesses through a Business Improvement District (BID).
