Appointments: Squire Sanders; Rollits; BHP; SYITC

SQUIRE Sanders has announced the appointment of corporate partner Hannah Kendrick, who has joined the firm from Eversheds.
Kendrick has more than 15 years of experience advising on a range of substantial corporate transactions and arrangements including working with both public and private companies on all aspects of acquisitions and disposals, fundraisings, joint ventures and related commercial arrangements both within the UK and with international parties.
In addition, she advises on public company transactions including takeovers, initial public offerings and secondary issues.
She has advised IBB on a scheme of arrangement by its majority shareholder, William Jackson Food Group on its acquisition of Abel & Cole, Help-Link on the investment by NorthEdge Capital, Spice on its £251m takeover by Cinven Private Equity and Flybe Group on the initial public offering of its shares on the London Stock Exchange.
Partner Steven Glover, head of the Squire Sanders Leeds corporate team, added: “We have been looking to build the corporate finance practice in Leeds for some time due to increased workloads and client demands. The hires of Hannah and two newly qualified lawyers, Craig Pettit and Jessica Kolhorn, into the team will establish us as one of the largest corporate teams within the region.”

COMMERCIAL law firm Rollits has promoted five of its solicitors as it continues to invest in talent.
Three senior solicitors – Rebecca Latus, Jennifer Sewell and David Myers – have been promoted to associate, whilst Ed Heppel and James Peel have been made up to senior solicitors.
Latus and Sewell both work in the dispute resolution department dealing with commercial disputes and both are key members of the firm’s regulatory team providing assistance to clients subject to investigation or prosecution by enforcement authorities such as Trading Standards, the Health & Safety Executive, the Environment Agency and local planning authorities.
Myers is a member of the firm’s planning team, which specialises in planning matters such as preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals and objections as well as advising on the planning elements of residential, commercial and industrial developments on behalf of landowners and developers alike.
Heppel works in the employment team and is experienced in both contentious and non-contentious issues and advises clients on all aspects of employment law, while Peel joined the firm’s commercial and IP team when he qualified. He specialises in work relating to commercial contracts, website terms and conditions and advice in relation to trade marks, copyright and other intellectual property rights as well as data protection issues.

ZOE Roberts, head of the corporate tax team at Barber Harrison & Platt (BHP) has been promoted to partner.
Roberts has worked within tax for more than15 years and has significant experience advising a range of businesses and their owners on tax planning matters including acquisitions, mergers and disposals. She has particular focus on the property sector and international tax matters.

NICK Patrick has joined South Yorkshire International Trade Centre (SYITC) to spearhead export growth from the region.
He becomes international trade manager at SYITC after spending the last 15 years running his own business in the international chemical sector.
With a wide-knowledge of world markets, Patrick has spent the majority of his career working abroad, as well as providing management consultancy on international trade.
His international career started with Yorkshire Chemicals and he was responsible for global business development and the European subsidiaries.
He has regularly worked with agents and distributors in multiple countries, advising partners of budgets, objectives and procedures.
He said: “There are many small and medium sized enterprises which need to understand the vast benefits exporting can bring to their business. Showing them the ropes is all I know.
“This is an exciting opportunity. I’m looking forward to speaking with a range of companies about exports and knocking on doors to boost trade abroad. A company’s market share can increase significantly through international trade. We are here to advise businesses on where they can take their products.”

BEDDING manufacturer John Cotton Group has appointed David Cruddos as managing director to help further develop its core non-branded business and grow its Slumberdown and Snuggledown brands.
He joins from a division of Glanbia based in the North West after two years as commercial director, where he was responsible for a £200m business supplying dairy products to retail and food service businesses across Europe.
Prior to this role, Cruddos spent four years as vice president for Disney Consumer Products Home division and two and a half years at Silentnight Group working in general management.
