New Leeds head for Pinsent Masons

THE head of law firm Pinsent Masons’ Leeds office is to retire in the autumn and be replaced by its head of property, it was announced this morning.
Nigel McClea, who has been a figure in the Yorkshire legal sector for more than three decades, will remain with the firm as a consultant and continue his role chairing Marketing Leeds.
He is to be replaced by Mark Owen in October who will link the post of head of office with his current position as head of property, a role he has held since 2004.
Mr McClea said: “Having had the great privilege of working closely with Mark for many years, I know he will be excellent in his new role. He is widely respected both internally and amongst our clients and contacts.”
Head of the Leeds office since 2004, Mr McClea has played a role in major developments in the region including the Royal Armouries and Thorpe Park and was named commercial property lawyer of the year at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards in 2003.
David Ryan, managing partner at Pinsent Masons, said: “We are very grateful for the significant contribution Nigel has made to the Firm over such a distinguished career.
“Nigel is and will obviously remain a key figure in the Leeds and Yorkshire business community and I am delighted that Pinsent Masons will continue to benefit from his experience and contacts in these important markets.”
Mr Owen first joined Pinsent Masons in 1986 and returned in 1994 after a six year spell in Hong Kong, becoming a partner in 1998.
He specialises in commercial property work and has advised on schemes including the Trinity Leeds shopping development in Leeds. He also heads the China desk in the Leeds office.
