Future of Gatecrasher clubs secured following sale

RESTRUCTURING and advisory firm Duff & Phelps has helped to save around 120 jobs by selling nightclub chain Gatecrasher out of administration.

Paul Clark, John Whitfield and Matthew Ingram, partners at Duff & Phelps – which has a Leeds operation – were appointed joint administrators of the companies behind the Gatecrasher clubs on August 2.

Duff & Phelps has now secured the sale of the business and certain assets to Gatecrasher (Birmingham) Limited, Gatecrasher Clubs and Bars Limited and GLN Trading Limited for an undisclosed amount.

The Gatecrasher brand has been established for more than a decade and it is well known for its night clubs and promotional events.

The companies behind it traded four night clubs – in Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham and Watford – and a bar adjacent to the Watford club.

Clark at Duff & Phelps said: “We’re really pleased with the outcome. It is great news that the future of Gatecrasher as a business and brand has been secured, including approximately 120 jobs.”

Earlier this week, TheBusinessDesk.com reported on Gatecrasher’s £5,000 fine for selling industrial alcohol as vodka at a student freshers event in its Bed venue in Leeds.
