Investment scheme creates more than 250 new jobs

READY for Business has created more than 250 new jobs in Yorkshire over the past year.

The investment start-up programme supports new enterprises across the UK and was launched last year following support from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and Barclays, with the aim to create 6,000 new businesses with 10,000 new jobs across the country.

To date, 261 jobs have been created across Yorkshire and the Humber and in total, 1,500 throughout the UK.

Proud to Care, a local business venture launched to provide care, support and companionship to people in their own homes across Sheffield is one of the Ready for Business success stories, creating new jobs for 13 extra members of staff due to solid growth and expansion.

Proud to Care was established by Gary Hardman and he now has plans to double the workforce over the coming year.

He said the Ready for Business programme gave him the confidence and reassurance to develop his business plan and get his idea off the ground.

“I found that the tailored support was very specific and relevant to my needs and the on-going encouragement that I receive is invaluable as my business grows and new challenges present themselves,” he said.

The Ready for Business scheme aims to create 1,335 new jobs across the region and works with start-ups a particular focus upon helping make businesses investment ready.
