R N Wooler & Co make strides with growth plans

AMBITIOUS expansion plans have helped construction and civil engineering business R N Wooler & Co to acquire new sites for development opportunities.

The West Yorkshire-based family firm has announced its growth plans thanks to funding from Barclays.

R N Wooler & Co was established in Keighley in 1985 by current managing director, Norman Wooler.

Wooler said: “Barclays funding underpins our growth plans. We’ve recently identified further development opportunities which will see the acquisition of additional sites to provide steady growth over the coming years.

“We know the property sector has been difficult for some in recent years, so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to weather the storm and continue with our growth plans.”

R N Wooler & Co employs over 200 staff and turnover for this year is expected to be £30m. The new funding will allow the business to continue with a number of housing developments, complementing the core building contract work it undertakes nationally. Recent projects include a contract to construct a major £6.5m extension to the Morrisons production site in Bradford, Skipton Building Society and Bradford Metropolitan Council.

The firm, which has invested in over £250,000 of new transit vans, said it will continue to make investments to aid its growth.

Richard Howarth, Barclays relationship director, said: “R N Wooler is a great example of a well-managed business with an ambitious management team that is willing to invest for the future. This deal serves as a clear indication that Barclays is open for business for quality transactions and the future looks bright for the company to retain their leading position in the construction industry.”
