Dart Group expects to meet market expectations

JET2 owner Dart Group today said it expects to meet market expectations for the financial year.

Speaking at the company’s annual general meeting this morning, Philip Meeson, group chairman and chief executive, said: “Summer 2013 trading in our leisure travel businesses has been satisfactory despite the fine weather experienced in the north this year.

“Our leisure airline, Jet2.com, has achieved higher yields and load factors than during summer 2012 although operating margins remain under pressure.

“Our package holidays business, Jet2holidays, continues to meet its substantial passenger growth targets and will provide approximately 30% of the group’s summer 2013 leisure travel customers.”

The company, which is based at Leeds Bradford International Airport, said the coming winter months continue to provide limited opportunity for revenue growth, which is increasingly focused on the summer season.

Meeson also said the group’s distribution and logistics business, Fowler Welch, continues to trade in line with expectations, focusing on growing its revenue pipeline and delivering operational efficiency improvements.

“The board remains cautiously optimistic in relation to profit growth and currently expects to meet market expectations for the financial year ending March 31 2014,” Meeson said.

Earlier this year, the group said it had seen a big leap in profits and turnover on the back of the expansion of its Jet2holidays business.
