Recent cases he has worked on include include the rescues of Barratts Shoes, Past Times, and Extra Motorway Services.
Mr Alderton said: “It’s a privilege to be picking up the mantle in Leeds and at such an exciting time for the office. Jonathan has done a marvelous job in strengthening our presence in the region, making businesses aware of our important legacy and our new capabilities. We want to spread that message wider – that a firm with deep local roots offers specialist expertise across a global platform.”
Peter Crossley, European managing partner of Squire Sanders, said: “We thank Jonathan for his enthusiasm, dedication and commitment during his time as office managing partner, and we’re delighted that John is able to take up the reins. John has already played an integral role in the success of the local office, where we act for many of the region’s leading businesses, and he will now lead us through the next important phase of our investment in Leeds and Yorkshire.”
