Clugston makes another £500,000 investment

CLUGSTON Distribution has invested a further £500,000 in new vehicles, bringing its total investment to over £2m and the creation of 25 jobs.

Clugston Distribution is the logistics arm of the Clugston Group, which has an office in Driffield and is headquartered in Scunthorpe.

Four of the additional new vehicle combinations  will be a part of Clugston’s growing strategic partnership with InterBulk, which now sees Clugston procuring specialist trailers designed to an Interbulk specification as well as Renault premium tractors with integral discharge equipment. A total of ten vehicles are now deployed on a daily basis as part of the partnership.

All the new vehicles are dressed in InterBulk livery and scheduled by InterBulk’s operations team in Hull. Clugston drivers are also trained by InterBulk’s training and engineering team on the product and customer specific requirements of each job. The four new vehicle combinations – already on fleet – are working from the Humber and Tees ports.

David Heath, head of logistics at Clugston Distribution, said: “Our working partnership is based on a long-term commitment, where both companies have a joint ethos of delivering quality through the supply chain. We are also currently exploring opportunities to strategically grow the partnership in 2014.”

Rob Thompson procurement manager from InterBulk said: “The relationship and combined experience of our staff in the bulk logistics and transport sector, is seen as an important alliance, which it is hoped can bring mutual benefit to both our companies and of course ultimately the best service to our customers and the markets in which we operate. The partnership is an opportunity to develop best quality, practice and innovation, with cooperative expansion already being planned for the short, medium and long-term.”
