NG Bailey on track with £2.7m Manchester Victoria station contract

THE rail division at Yorkshire-based NG Bailey has been awarded a £2.7m contract by construction and infrastructure company Morgan Sindall to provide all mechanical and electrical engineering services for Network Rail’s redevelopment of Manchester Victoria station.

The Ilkley-based company will also install the CCTV, fire alarm systems and help points throughout all retail areas of the station, as well as contributing to the construction of the innovative roof structure that will allow for future expansion of the station.

Throughout the project, the team will be faced with the challenge of carrying out all work whilst maintaining a fully functional and operational station.

The contract, which is due for completion in early 2015, is part of Network Rail’s strategy for the North and the work will transform the station into a transport interchange that is safer, brighter and more spacious.

Chris Raven, managing director of NG Bailey’s rail division, said: “This is an exciting and challenging project, which allows us to demonstrate our skills and expertise in the rail sector. Manchester Victoria opened in 1844 and is used by almost 10 million people every year.
