Restaurant ‘bowls over’ cricketer Gough

YORKSHIRE and England cricket legend Darren Gough is looking to bowl diners over when he lends his support to the launch of a new restaurant.

Mr Gough, who co-presents Drive Time on TalkSport radio, will be at Cinnamon Café & Indian Restaurant in Wakefield tomorrow.

The cricketer helpled launch the venture’s sister restaurant, Cinnamon Lounge in Horbury Bridge, where he has two dishes named after him.

Cinnamon Café owner Sam Miah said: “Darren’s a huge fan of Indian food, and has been a regular at our first Cinnamon Lounge in Flockton Moor since that opened in October 2007.

“In fact, Darren’s such a fan of ours that we’ve even named two of our dishes after him!”

Cinnamon Café is the third restaurant in the group.

Mr Miah has invested £30,000 in the Cinnamon Café which employs 10 full and part-time staff and serves freshly cooked Indian food along with pasta, paninis and wraps.

Mr Miah said: “Cinnamon Café is about relaxing, taking time out, meeting up with friends and unwinding, but importantly about enjoying yourself when you eat and drink.

“We want to stand out from the crowd; we want to offer something different to Wakefield which is why we are already looking to experiment with local ingredients such as rhubarb and liquorice.”
