AN East Yorkshire manufacturer is expanding into Scotland after acquiring another business.
Plas-Tech Thermoforming, a specialist in thermoforming techniques, has acquired injection moulding company, Protomould, based in Kirkcaldy, Fife.
Since it was established in 1994 by chairman, Rick Rial, Plas-Tech has seen year-on-year growth, and now employs 83 people at its 4.5 acre Brandesburton site.
Protomould will be run as a sister company under the new name of Protomould Plastics as part of the Poly Plastics umbrella. The deal will take the Poly Plastics group turnover to over £6m and employee numbers will go up to 94.
John Jarvis, managing director of Plas-Tech, also becomes managing director of Protomould Plastics.
Mr Rial said: “From starting off as a small operation in 1994, we’ve seen great growth and success over the years. Our expansion will help us to build on the strength of both companies, offer new and better services to our customers and continue to grow in the future.”
Bill Scott, founder of Protomould, said: “I’m delighted to have passed on the reins to Plas-Tech. Protomould has always been built on its excellent service, quality products, quick turnaround and competitive, cost-effective prices, and Plas-Tech will only help to strengthen its reputation, and grow and develop the company further.”
Plas-Tech works in partnership with some of the UK’s largest companies, and exports to two customers in China.
Protomould employs 11 staff, and specialises in the quick turnaround of soft tooling and small batch injection moulding products to a wide range of small and blue chip companies worldwide.
