Appointments: Gordons; Bibby Financial Services; Sheffield Hallam

THREE more West Yorkshire school leavers are being offered the chance to become lawyers through an apprenticeship scheme operated by law firm Gordons.
The trio of 18-year-olds joining the firm in the programme’s third annual intake are Georgia Samardzija, who attended Notre Dame Sixth Form College, Leeds; Natasha Taylor, formerly of St Wilfrid’s High School, Featherstone; and Abigail Naylor, an ex-pupil of Dixons City Academy, Bradford.
The trio’s arrival follows Gordons’ initial intake of five apprentices in 2011 and a further three last September.
Gordons’ apprenticeship scheme aims to tackle social mobility issues by providing an alternative route into the profession for bright youngsters without needing to follow the conventional pathway of attending university.
Managing partner Paul Ayre said: “We believe strongly that the legal profession should be open to all people with appropriate ability and drive, whatever their circumstances. Our first two intakes of apprentices received rave reviews from their colleagues for their performances and I have no doubt Georgia, Natasha and Abigail will acquit themselves with equal distinction.”
