Yorkshire Baker invests £12m in new factory

YORKSHIRE Baker has invested £12m in a new factory.

The business, now part of Cranswick Foods, has created upwards of 150 jobs by investing in the new 6,000 sqm site in Malton, which will open tomorrow.

It will be officially opened by Cathy Chapman, director of food product development and direction at Marks and Spencer.

The land for the factory was acquired in October last year on Norton Grove Industrial Estate after an increasing demand for Yorkshire Baker’s products and a new contract with Marks and Spencer. The factory produces a range of handcrafted all butter pastry sausage rolls, pasties, quiche and pies.

Jim Brisby, sales and marketing director, said: “This is an exciting venture for us both and we are delighted to be working together, buildings upon Cranswick’s ethos of working with artisan producers to take market leading products to a much wider consumer audience in modern and efficient facilities.”
