Avis contract for Ashworth
LAW firm Ashworth has won a major new contract from global car rental giant Avis.
The Harrogate-based firm has been appointed by Avis to help recover millions of pounds in unpaid legal bills run up by customers who have had accidents but left the company to cover the costs.
Ashworth co-founder Mathew Cobley said: “We have an industry-wide reputation for debt recovery. Having worked with Avis in the past, but on a smaller scale, they know the quality of our work and our success rate, hence our appointment.
“Our job is to chase clients who have either failed to pay the excess after an accident, or haven’t had insurance in the first place, not just in the UK but Europe-wide.
“Our technology enables us to track people all over the continent, under their own names as well as aliases. Recently, we located one person to Cyprus. A court order resulted in him paying the £8,000 he owed Avis.”
Ashworth Law was established last year and operates in two areas of the law. Ashworth For You specialises in civil litigation, family law and personal injury while Ashworth for Business is dedicated to debt management, debt collection, financial claims and corporate benefits.
Earlier this year the firm opened a new office in South Manchester.
