Blades place bet with online gaming company

SHEFFIELD United Football Club has signed online gaming company 188BET as its official betting partner.

The deal marks 188BET’s first agreement with a Championship side and its first step into Yorkshire, just two weeks after Everton became its sixth partnered Premier League club.

The company already has official relationships already in place with Chelsea, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Everton, Bolton and Wigan Athletic.

The agreement takes effect immediately and will run for three years.

Sheffield United’s chief executive Trevor Birch said: “This is a very important strategic partnership for Sheffield United and its family of clubs, Chengdu Blades, Ferencváros and the Central Coast Mariners. We are delighted to have 188BET join our list of global partners, which include The Malta Tourism Authority, GAC Logistics and Molson Coors.

“We have a business model that gives our partners the opportunity to reach a global audience that expands across Europe, Australasia and Asia.

“The alliance with 188BET is a further demonstration that Sheffield United’s position in football is helping the club attract world class brands with an international prominence.”

Andy Scott, chief executive of 188BET, said: “I’m delighted to have secured a partnership with another prestigious club like Sheffield United. This agreement shows we are not just focusing on the Premier League and the addition of another club steeped in tradition and history is a great move for 188BET.

“We are looking forward to working with Sheffield United and its passionate supporters on a variety of exciting projects.”
